The Harnett County Airport, five miles east of Lillington, is lighted and has a 4,300 foot runway. Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) is 40 miles northwest. RDU also offers commercial freight-handling services to the world. Lillington's outstanding highways provide direct links to every part of the state. NC 401 & 421 along with NC 210 & 27 intersect Lillington. US Interstate 40 & 95 are both within 19 miles of Lillington.

The Lillington area schools are part of the Harnett County School System and provide quality educational services to over 20,000 students in twenty-seven schools. The public school system provides a progressive and community-oriented atmosphere. Harnett County is proud to be the home of Campbell University in Buies Creek, a four-year, fully-accredited liberal arts institution of higher education. Campbell is a Baptist university affiliated with the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. Campbell hosts a long and rich history in Harnett County dating back to the establishment of the 21-student Buies Creek Academy in 1887. Today, now a university, Campbell currently hosts over 4,250 students in undergraduate and graduate programs on its main campus located in Buies Creek, North Carolina. The University also offers graduate degree programs that include pharmacy, law, divinity, physical therapy, a physician’s assistant program, and an osteopathic medical school. In addition, the University’s fine arts department hosts theatrical and musical productions throughout the year and the college athletics department affords area residents an opportunity to attend various sporting events.
Central Carolina Community College is also in Harnett County. The two year public college offers students am associates degree in the arts and sciences that can transfer to a four year university as well as courses in technical, vocational and basic education. It is committed to the growth of individuals by offering a wide variety of basic, employment-related, academic and vocational programs provided by highly trained and skilled professionals.
There are several colleges and universities in the area, including Wake Technical Community College, Fayetteville Technical Community College, North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Private four-year institutions in the area include Duke University, Meredith College, St. Augustine's College, Shaw University and William Peace University.
The Lillington Parks and Recreation Department coordinates recreational events and services that including the following seasonal activities: little league baseball, T-ball, soccer, football and basketball, along with men's, women's and girls' softball. They maintain the town park which includes walking trails and tennis courts. Lillington’s new Community Center also offers a fitness room, meeting space and a variety of classes for youth, adults and seniors. Other recreation activities include those offered by Raven Rock State Park located nine miles west of Lillington off Hwy. 421. The park offers camping, canoeing, fishing, picnic sites and walking trails as well as educational seminars and events offered by park officials.
In addition, Cape Fear River Adventures in Lillington offers canoe, kayak, and tube rentals for excursions down the Cape Fear River which runs through the middle of Town. The area is also proud to be the home of the Coble Ski School, a water ski and wakeboard instructional facility that it owned and operated by the Coble family who have won national and international ski competitions for many years.
The Harnett Health System provides medical services through a variety of sites in Harnett County one of which is Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital located in Dunn. The site is a 101 bed modern, well equipped hospital that offers cardiopulmonary, critical care, emergency services, outpatient and inpatient surgical services as well as medical imaging and digital mammography.
The Harnett Health System has recently opened Central Harnett Hospital, a 50-bed acute care hospital on the 128 acre Campus in Lillington. The campus also includes the newly built Central Carolina Community College Health and Sciences Education classroom and instruction building which provide hands on training in the area of health, science and technology.
In addition, the Harnett County Health Department maintains a public health clinic in Lillington. Lillington’s medical services also include physicians, optometrists, dentists, a chiropractor, physical therapists and a neurology and pain management clinic along with a sleep study center. Lillington also has First Responders Emergency Medical Services and transport service provided by the Harnett County EMS at the paramedic level.
Other hospitals in the area include, Central Carolina Hospital, an acute care facility located in Lee County that provides services for western Harnett County. Rex Hospital, North Carolina's first incorporated hospital is located in Raleigh and provides conscientious care in one of the state's most modern facilities. Wake Medical Center, approximately 35 miles from Lillington, has a 'state of the art' Trauma Center and children’s ER. The research and treatment hospitals at Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill are also within one hour's drive.
Lillington also has a veterinary clinic for the health care of your pets and a pet grooming service.
Dining and Shopping
Lillington has over 30 restaurants offering a variety of types of food including American, Chinese, Italian and Mexican. Several restaurants offer outdoor dining, meeting and party facilities, live entertainment and a gathering spot for viewing sports.
