   The Harnett County Airport, five miles east of Lillington, is lighted and has a 4,300 foot runway.  Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) is 40 miles northwest.  RDU also offers commercial freight-handling services to the world.
   Lillington's outstanding highways provide direct links to every part of the state.  NC 401 & 421 along with NC 210 & 27 intersect Lillington.   US Interstate 40 & 95 are both within 19 miles of Lillington.

    The Lillington area schools are part of the Harnett County School system and provide quality educational services to over 15,500 students in twenty-four schools. The public school system provides a progressive and community-oriented atmosphere. Harnett County Schools are constantly striving to reach their fullest potential through the positive leadership of the Board of Education, administrative personnel and teachers.
    Harnett County is proud to be the home of Campbell University in Buies Creek, a four-year, fully-accredited liberal arts institution of higher education. The University confers an associate degree, six undergraduate degrees and seven graduate degrees, and makes available 40 fields for undergraduate major courses of study. The University also offers professional programs in education, business, law, pharmacy and divinity.
    Central Carolina Community College is also in Harnett County. It is committed to the growth of individuals by offering a wide variety of basic, employment-related, academic and vocational programs.
    There are several colleges and universities in the area, including Wake Technical Community College, North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Private four-year institutions in the area include Duke University, Meredith College, St. Augustine's College, Shaw University and Peace College.

Recreation

   Parks and Recreation Department coordinates recreational events and support local leagues in providing recreational services. The department provides the following seasonal activities: little league baseball, T-ball, soccer, football and basketball, along with men's, women's and girls' softball. They maintain the town park which includes walking trails and tennis courts. They also have a Senior Citizens Club which meets each month.  The Lillington Area Chamber of Commerce along with generous donations has made possible for Lillington to have an outstanding children's playground located in the park.  For information, please call (910) 893-2864.

    Harnett County is served by two modern, well equipped hospitals: Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital located in Dunn and Good Hope Hospital in Erwin. Central Carolina Hospital, an acute care facility located in Lee County, also provides services for western Harnett County. In addition, the Harnett County Health Department maintains a public health clinic in Lillington. Lillington is served by Good Hope Urgent Care Center, open seven days a week, along with many physicians, optometrists, dentists and a chiropractor. Lillington also has First Responders Emergency Medical Services and transport service provided by the Harnett County EMS at the paramedic level.
    Rex Hospital, North Carolina's first incorporated hospital, is located in Raleigh and provides conscientious care in one of the state's most modern facilities. Wake Medical Center, approximately 35 miles from Lillington, has a "state of the art" Trauma Center. The renown research and treatment hospitals at Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill are also within one hour's drive.
    Lillington also has a veterinary clinic for the health care of your pets.
